"More than 4 out of 5 [preteens] want to have a close relationship with God, yet three-quarters believe:
- The devil does not exist - Satan is just a symbol of evil.
- A good person earns entry into heaven by doing good works.
- All of the sacred books (Bible, Koran, Book of Mormon, etc.) are merely different expressions of the same spiritual truths and principles.
Two-thirds believe:
- Praying to deceased saints can have a positive effect on your life.
- The Bible discourages sin but never describes it as an innate behavior.
Half or more than half contend the following:
- Life either has no meaning or the meaning is realized through hard work, which produces the resources to enjoy comfort and security.
- There are no absolute standards for morals and ethics.
- When Jesus Christ lived on Earth, He committed sins.
- The Bible does not specifically condemn homosexuality."
"To place these views in context, realize that only 3 percent of the nation's 13-year-olds have a biblical worldview which serves as the foundation for their decision making."
*research from Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions by George Barna
These facts are startling. Our children are growing up without a solid foundation in the Word of God. We hope they will grow up to be spiritually mature people who love God and who put Him first in their lives. But, do we really? How can we expect children to live their lives in a way they have not been taught.
In response to God's call, Kids First Family Fellowship, Inc. (Kids First) began in 2005 with the goal of teaching children foundational truths of the Christian faith. We seek to do this in several ways. We minister to children on our website, and we make our curriculum available to churches and other children's ministry programs. In addition, we have a special focus on inner city children in Athens, Georgia. We meet with two groups of children on a weekly basis to share the love of Jesus Christ with them. We hope to bring these children to the knowledge of God's saving grace, disciple them in the development of their relationship with Jesus as their Savior, and help them understand that God has great plans for each of their lives.
To accomplish these goals, we need your help. Please consider becoming a part of this ministry. A gift of $25 , $50 , or $100 or more will help move this ministry forward. And, remember, all gifts are tax-deductible.
